To say the Stanton football team was snakebit in 2025 would be an understatement. More accurately, the Buffaloes were devastated by injury.
Over the course of the season, a remarkable 12 SHS players suffered season-ending injuries, forcing the Buffs to close a tough 1-9 campaign with just 14 players on their varsity roster.
That experience, while difficult, sets the stage for what coach Gary Griffin and his squad are hoping will be a bounce-back year in 2026. Galvanized by the adversity they faced and endured, a tight-knit group of players came out the other side with a chip on their shoulder, determined to make sure last year’s struggles represent a mere temporary detour from the winning culture they’re trying to build.
