SNYDER — If one searches for a turning point in Tuesday’s Region I-3A DI semifinal between Comanche and Shallowater, it’s easy enough to spot.
With Comanche seemingly in control, leading 31-19 with 1:49 left in the second quarter, Shallowater closed the half on a 6-0 run to pull within six. From the moment that run started to the end of the game, the Fillies outscored Comanche 51-29 to walk away with a 70-60 win at the West Texas College Coliseum.
Linley Wright scored 23 points, Keelie Williams scored 17 and Carlie Buckley added 14 more to lift Shallowater (27-7), which advances to face Bushland for the regional title.
Comanche closed its season at 22-11, led by J’Lee Salinas with 16 points, Kaysi Wilcox and Emily Sierra with nine and Dakota Dudley with eight.
