COUNTDOWN TO TWO-A-DAYS: The Clyde Bulldogs … 11 days to two-a-days

Football is just around the corner, and we at BigCountryPreps.com are committed to bringing you the information you need to prepare for your favorite team’s season.

We’ll be releasing our Big Country Preps Preseason Football Preview, the most comprehensive look at the upcoming Big Country football season anywhere, on Wednesday, Aug. 16. But you won’t have to wait until then to sate your gridiron appetite.

Leading up to the first day of fall football practice on July 31, we’ll be spotlighting each 11-man team in the area and posing some of the key questions they’ll face in 2023 as part of our annual “Countdown to Two-a-Days” series.

We continue in Class 3A Division I with the Clyde Bulldogs. On Friday we will take a look at the Jim Ned Indians, followed by the Brock Eagles on Saturday.

CLYDE BULLDOGS

LAST YEAR’S RECORD

  • 4-6 overall, 0-5 District 3-3A Division I

ONE KEY STAT

  • The Bulldogs were outscored 294-240 in 2022, dropping their final five games after starting 4-1.

TWO NAMES TO KNOW

  • Senior QB/DB Blake Carr (Passed for 1,460 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushed for 509 yards and 7 TDs in 2022)
  • Senior WR/DB Dai’Jon Booker (Received for 440 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2022)

THREE BURNING QUESTIONS

  • How big of an impact will quarterback Blake Carr have after missing the second half of his junior season due a thumb injury on his throwing hand?
  • Can the Bulldogs build on what was a very competitive season before injuries took their toll?
  • Will a senior-heavy Clyde team looking for its first playoff appearance since 2020 come into 2023 with a chip on its shoulder?
