We’ll be releasing our Big Country Preps Preseason Football Preview, the most comprehensive look at the upcoming Big Country football season anywhere, on Wednesday, Aug. 16. But you won’t have to wait until then to sate your gridiron appetite.
Leading up to the first day of fall football practice on July 31, we’ll be spotlighting each 11-man team in the area and posing some of the key questions they’ll face in 2023 as part of our annual “Countdown to Two-a-Days” series.
We move to Class 3A Division I with the Breckenridge Buckaroos. On Thursday we will take a look at the Clyde Bulldogs, followed by the Jim Ned Indians on Friday.

- Breckenridge’s eight wins last season were the Buckaroos’ most since going 9-3 in 2010.

- Senior QB/DB Cam Escalon (Passed for 425 yards and 5 touchdowns and had 60 tackles, 2 interceptions and 18 pass breakups in 2022)
- Senior WR/DB Alexis Franco (Received for 232 yards and 3 touchdowns and had 124 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions and 12 pass breakups in 2022)
