COUNTDOWN TO TWO-A-DAYS: The Roscoe Plowboys … 37 days to two-a-days

Football is just around the corner, and we at BigCountryPreps.com are committed to bringing you the information you need to prepare for your favorite team’s season.

We’ll be releasing our Big Country Preps Preseason Football Preview, the most comprehensive look at the upcoming Big Country football season anywhere, on Wednesday, Aug. 16. But you won’t have to wait until then to sate your gridiron appetite.

Leading up to the first day of fall football practice on July 31, we’ll be spotlighting each 11-man team in the area and posing some of the key questions they’ll face in 2023 as part of our annual “Countdown to Two-a-Days” series.

We continue in Class 2A Division II with the Roscoe Plowboys. On Sunday we will take a look at the Haskell Indians, followed by the Santo Wildcats on Monday.

ROSCOE PLOWBOYS

LAST YEAR’S RECORD

  • 6-5 overall, 3-2 in District 6-2A Division II

ONE KEY STAT

  • Roscoe’s playoff appearance last year was its third in a row and seventh since 2014.

TWO NAMES TO KNOW

  • Senior TE/DE Parker Gleaton (Received for 612 yards and 9 touchdowns and had 73 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 11 sacks in 2022)
  • Senior WR/DB Seth Wilcox (Received for 712 yards and 10 touchdowns and returned two kickoffs for TDs in just five games in 2022)

THREE BURNING QUESTIONS

  • After an injury-plagued 2022 campaign, can the Plowboys remain healthy enough to fulfill their potential this fall?
  • Can Roscoe build cohesiveness between its returners and those who filled in for injured starters a year ago?
  • Is this the year we see junior running back/linebacker Ivan McCann breakout as one of the Big Country’s most outstanding players?
