Cooper 41, San Angelo Central 38 (OT) — The Cougars broke into the win column, holding off a late rally by Central to defeat the Bobcats in overtime.
Cooper (1-2), which outgained Central 434-356, led 28-20 at halftime and 35-20 after three quarters, but the Bobcats scored 15 unanswered points, tying the game on a 20-yard blocked punt return with 1:40 remaining in the game. After Central tacked on a Chase Miller field goal to take a 38-35 lead in OT, the Cougars won the game on a 22-yard pass from Chris Warren to Malik Jackson.
Cooper was led in the victory by Warren (20-29-1—177, 2 TDs passing; 14-61, 1 TD rushing) and running back Daniel Bray (11-116, 1 TD rushing). Quarterback Tyler Hill paced he Bobcats, meanwhile, completing 21 of 38 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 77 yards and another score.
