HAWLEY — As you know, there are no guarantees in football. We just like to pretend that there are.
So if you ask me about what’s going to happen with a Big Country football team this year, I’m going to have an opinion and I’m going to confidently deliver it as though I were Nostradamus. And my colleague, Dan Youngblood, will sound even more self-assured.
Ask me about the Hawley Bearcats, however, and it’s a different story.
Ask me about Hawley and I’m tempted to hedge my bets (figuratively speaking). On the one hand, I genuinely believe that by season’s end, the Bearcats will be fielding a better product that they did in 2021 (as long as they stay healthy). On the other hand, their path to Arlington is a minefield — one that the Bearcats managed to navigate last season because they didn’t take a single misstep.
