HASKELL — While it is common for teams to take a step forward in their second year under a new coach, the Haskell Indians are as well- prepared as any school their size to do exactly that.
Now in their second season under coach Mitch McLemore, the Indians are armed with 25 upper classmen, including 15 seniors.
Seventeen lettermen return from last year’s 2-8 squad, including seven starters on both sides of the ball, with promotees from a 6-3 JV team available to help fill the vacancies.
“We’re excited, I’ll put it that way,” McLemore said. “We’re expecting between 46 and 52 total players (in the program) and as far as varsity players, we have several returners.
“We also have some sophomores who will probably lend a hand as well.”
