MIDLAND — The Abilene High football team locked up a playoff berth Friday, defeating Midland High 42-28 to improve to 6-3 on the year and 4-1 in District 3-6A play.
Leading just 21-14 at halftime, the Eagles scored the first 21 points of the second half to go up 42-14 before the Bulldogs scored a couple of late touchdowns against backups.
AHS ran for 324 yards in the victory, led by senior running back Da’King Thomas, who finished a yard shy of 200 for the game with three touchdown runs.
