CROSS PLAINS — They were coming off a lopsided loss at Goldthwaite. They were starting a freshman at quarterback. They had four turnovers to overcome and they had no momentum to speak of heading into Friday’s game with Haskell.
Yet at the end of the night, the Cross Plains Buffaloes had overcome every hurdle to hand Haskell a 28-7 loss in the Big Country Preps Game of the Week.
Freshman Kade Purvis threw for 287 yards and three scores to lead the Buffaloes (2-1), who put the game away with a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns.
