GAME RECAP: Eagles dominate Midland High to enter playoffs on three-game win streak

The Abilene High football team cruised through Midland High 56-14 on Friday at Shotwell Stadium to close out its regular season on a three-game winning streak.

The Eagles, who stand at 4-4 overall after finishing 4-2 in District 2-6A action, will now be off next week as they wait to find which team from the El Paso-based District 1 they’ll be playing in the opening round of the playoffs.

AHS, which tied San Angelo Central for third in the 2-6A standings, will be the No. 2 seed small school seed behind the Bobcats due to the Eagles’ loss to Central in their Sept. 16 district opener. But coach Mike Fullen’s team will enter the postseason with some momentum after beating Wolfforth Frenship, Odessa High and Midland High by a combined score of 127-28.
