District 2-5A Division I: Week 4 Report

Cooper 30, Wylie 0 — The Cougars turned a pair of interceptions into a 13-0 first-quarter lead and controlled the game from there in extending their season-opening win streak to four games.

Cooper only finished with 318 yards — 192 rushing and 126 passing — but that proved more than enough thanks to an outstanding defensive effort. The Coogs held the Bulldogs to just 179 total yards in pitching their second consecutive Southtown Showdown shutout.

Cooper, which got 164 yards and three touchdown runs from junior running back Noah Garcia, will return to Shotwell stadium for the fourth straight game Friday, when it hosts Lubbock Monterey to open district play.
