SIDEBAR: 2019 could offer Brownwood best chance for return to Austin

BROCK — Every high school athletic program runs in cycles. 

Experienced, inexperienced, talented, not-so-talented, plenty of depth and bone thin —all of which run in varying degrees and mixtures, giving each team its own potential and personality. 

Every so often, enough of the planets align to give a team a memorable season — perhaps even a trip to the state tournament.   

In the view of many, the Brownwood softball team is currently in one of these “up” cycles and is actually at a crucial stage, with star pitcher Chyanne Ellett in her final season as a Lady Lion.
