HAMLIN — The Roby girls basketball team had won 17 district titles in a row, but when Jerry Carrion took the job at Aspermont three years ago, he wanted his team to believe it could become champions.
With Friday’s 44-41 win over Hamlin at Piper Court, Carrion’s squad clinched the District 14-1A championship and the league’s top playoff seed as a result.
The win was the Lady Hornets’ third of the year over the Lady Pipers, and they have come by a combined six points.
