Big Spring athletic director/head football coach Mitch McLemore has been reassigned.
McLemore, who posted a 3-19 overall mark with the Steers through two seasons, coached Big Spring to records of 0-10 and 3-9, respectively, upon arriving from Junction in 2017. He inherited a team that had gone 0-9 in 2016.
McLemore’s team did show improvement this year, claiming its first playoff win since 2014 with a 28-22 victory over Clint on Nov. 16. The Steers’ season ended with a 57-13 loss to Hereford in the area round on Friday.
McLemore has been reassigned to an intermediate campus as an administrator.
A statement from Big Spring ISD reads: “The district is grateful to coach McLemore for his contributions to our school district, our students and to the greater community, and we look forward to benefiting from his service in his new role.”
Big Spring High School Principal Mike Ritchey will step into the AD position on an interim basis.
