After nursing a sore back which prevented him from jumping for a few weeks, Wall senior Briggs Jones made a return to the stage in a big way last week.
The regular season ends Friday night (if you can believe it) and there’s no better way to close things up than with No. 5 Class 2A DI Hawley (9-0, 4-0) at No. 1 Stamford (9-0, 4-0).
Albany 68, Winters 0 — Chip Chambers threw for 234 yards and three scores and Branson Beal rushed for 144 yards and five more TDs to lift Albany over Winters.
Albany 47, Miles 15 — Branson Beal rushed for 115 yards and three scores and Chip Chambers threw for 127 yards and two more TDs to lift Albany to a win the district opener for both teams.
Albany, idle — The Lions entered their bye week with a 3-2 overall record. They will open district play against Miles (4-1) at home on Oct. 11.
The Bulldogs piled up 504 yards in total offense and seven TDs in an impressive win over Johnson City.
Cross Plains 64, Abilene TLCA 8 — Cross Plains rolled up 495 total yards, including 304 yards rushing to push its record to 2-0
Miles 32, Sonora 14 —Tevin Meade rushed for 145 yards and four TDs to lead Miles to an impressive road win over Sonora. 
Week 1 is often loaded with difficult picks and 2024 is no exception.
