LUBBOCK — The Abilene High football team bounced back from last week’s loss to Amarillo High with one of its most complete performances of the season Friday, scoring the first 21 points in a 48-28 road win over Lubbock Monterey.

Tristan Beal threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Eagles, who outgained the Plainsmen 456-294 in improving to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in District 2-5A Division I play.

The victory all but clinched a playoff berth for the Eagles, who will close out their regular season with a road game next week against Amarillo Tascosa and a home game Nov. 6 against Wolfforth Frenship.
