An interesting scenario has emerged within the Coleman Bluecats’ football team this season.
Hunter Edington began walking the sidelines at Coleman football games by age 3 or “since he could walk,” said his dad Zach Edington, who was a Coleman assistant coach for 22 years from 2003-2025.
As a sophomore in 2024, the younger Edington was quarterbacking the Coleman JV team until the starting varsity quarterback was injured. Hunter ended up starting five varsity games at quarterback to end the season.
The Bluecats were 0-7 when Hunter became their starting quarterback, but he guided the Coleman to district wins over Hico 14-6, Ballinger 14-7 and Bangs 31-16 to secure a playoff berth.
