2025 All-Big Country Preps Girls Basketball Team: Third-Team Roster (w/ honorable mention)

STARTERS

JAYCEE JONES, TOLAR

Vitals: 5-2, Sophomore, Guard

Why she’s here: Jones built on a promising freshman year with an even stronger sophomore season, averaging a team-leading 15.1 points per game to help the Lady Rattlers to the Region I-3A Division II semifinals.

The crafty point guard also contributed 3.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 3.7 steals and 3.4 deflections on her way to earning first-team all-district recognition.

MATILDA GALVAN, BALLINGER

Vitals: 5-4, Senior, Guard

Why she’s here: Galvan played a key role in a successful season that saw the Lady Cats reach the Region I-2A Division I semifinals following a runner-up finish to fellow region semifinalist Roscoe in District 8-2A.

In addition to averaging 13.4 points, the talented guard contributed eight rebounds, three assists and six steals per game to nab Offensive MVP honors out of her district.

JORDYN GERHARDT, MAY

Vitals: 5-7, Junior, Guard

Why she’s here: Gerhardt was among the area’s most prolific scorers this season, averaging 18.9 points per game for the region semifinalist Lady Tigers.

The standout guard was also good for 4.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 8.2 steals and 3.7 deflections per game — contributions that helped her nab district MVP, Texas Girls Coaches Association all-state and Texas Association of Basketball Coaches all-region recognition.

DESTINY JAMISON, COMANCHE

Vitals: 5-10, Senior, Guard/Forward

Why she’s here: Jamison produced at a high enough level as a senior to earn a spot on the TGCA all-state team.

In addition to the 13 points she scored per game, the future Hardin-Simmons University Cowgirl averaged eight rebounds, three assists and three steals to fuel Comanche to an undefeated run through District 8-3A and claim Offensive Player of the Year honors out of that league.

AUBRIE FRAZIER, HAWLEY

Vitals: 5-11, Senior, Post

Why she’s here: Frazier made her impact felt on both ends of the floor as a senior, averaging 11.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.9 deflections for a 22-win Lady Cats squad.

Her efforts were rewarded after the season when she was named the Co-Defensive MVP of District 10-2A.

SIXTH MAN

GRACIE CAPERTON, CLYDE

Vitals: 5-7, Junior, Guard

Why she’s here: Caperton was a huge part of the Lady Bulldogs’ success this season, making major contributions on both ends of the floor.

In addition to averaging 16 points per game, the junior collected four rebounds, three assists and three steals per contest to claim first-team all-district honors out of District 6-3A.

RESERVES

KAYLA FALCO, GORMAN

Vitals: 5-6, Senior, Guard

Why she’s here: A dynamic scorer who does most things well, Falco averaged 19.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.9 steals and two pass deflections per game for the district champion Lady Panthers.

In addition to earning the senior the Offensive MVP nod out of District 22-1A , that production — which included 71 made 3-pointers — also garnered the standout guard TABC all-region and TGCA all-state recognition.

SAMIA COOPER, ABILENE HIGH

Vitals: 5-5, Senior, Guard

Why she’s here: After putting together a successful campaign as a junior, Cooper helped solidify her place in and impact on the AHS program with another strong season in 2024-25.

The talented guard averaged 11.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 steals and 3.5 deflections per game to claim Offensive MVP honors out of District 4-5A while leading the Lady Eagles to their second consecutive playoff appearance.

HAILIE CAUTHEN, EULA

Vitals: 5-5, Senior, Guard

Why she’s here: A steady guard with loads of big-game experience, Cauthen played a huge role in the Lady Pirates’ run to the state championship game this season.

The senior, who hit 56 3-pointers for the year at 37 percent clip, scored 11 points per game while averaging 3.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 3.6 steals and 3.7 deflections to close her high school career as her district’s Co-MVP as well as a TABC all-region and TABC all-state selection.

J’LEE SALINAS, COMANCHE

Vitals: 5-10, Junior, Guard

Why she’s here: One of the most dynamic point guards in the Big Country, Salinas stuffed the stat book this season, averaging 11 points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocks per game to make her impact felt on both ends of the court.

Those efforts, which contributed to a 22-7 campaign, earned the multi-talented junior MVP honors out of District 8-3A as well as spots on the TABC all-region and TGCA all-state teams.

FINLEY SHOCKLEY, LIPAN

Vitals: 5-8, Junior, Forward

Why she’s here: A sharp-shooting small forward who excels from the perimeter, Shockley averaged 12.4 points this season while shooting 40.8 percent from the field, 38 percent from 3-point range  and 72 percent from the free-throw line.

Those numbers, which earned her Offensive Player of the Year honors out of District 11-2A and spots on the TABC all-region and TGCA all-state teams, helped Lipan earn its 11th trip to the state semifinals and fourth since 2020.

DARRIANA LEE, HAMLIN

Vitals: Junior, Forward

Why she’s here: A two-way standout for the Lady Pipers at the power forward position, Lee averaged 17.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.2 steals per game as a junior.

In addition to earning her a first-team spot on the all-District 15-1A team, those efforts played a significant role in her team winning its first playoff game since 2012 to reach the Region II-1A Division I area round.
