The Wylie boys basketball team opened the Catlaw Classic with mixed results Friday, falling to Fort Worth Chisholm Trail 49-40 in the afternoon before bouncing back to rout Midland Greenwood 80-35 in the nightcap.
After being outscored 30-17 in the second half of their opener, the Bulldogs dominated their second game from start to finish to take a 1-1 record into Saturday’s Catclaw finale against Canyon West Plains.
Coach Gregg Ruffin’s team, now 7-6 on the season overall, led Greenwood 41-19 by halftime and outscored the Rangers 18-7 in the third quarter to ensure that it would close Day 1 of its own tournament on a winning note.
