GAME STORY: Central fends off valiant Abilene High rally in Eagles’ home opener

Abilene High boys basketball coach Justin Reese said anytime the Eagles face off with San Angelo Central, strange things happen.

Those strange things happened at the end of the third quarter on Tuesday night as Payton Shawver’s slam dunk preceded a half-court buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Eric Salazar to end the third quarter.

The flurry, which tied the game at 47, wasn’t enough for the Eagles as AHS dropped its home opener 68-61 to the Bobcats at Eagle Gym.
