Abilene Independent School District Athletic Director Jim Garfield hasn’t had to make too many significant hires during his short time leading the department.

During his nearly two years, Garfield had hired Brandon Hudson to lead the Cooper girls basketball team, Tiffany Van Hoose to lead the Abilene High girls soccer program and Brad Harman to captain the AHS baseball team.

Wednesday afternoon, the veteran administrator added to that list when AISD announced the replacements for Del Van Cox (assistant AD) and Brenda Andress (AHS girls basketball). Lubbock ISD Assistant AD Lou Mora will replace Cox while Andress’ successor is Hale Center girls basketball coach Alfonzo Franklin.
