TUSCOLA — Into the fourth inning on Tuesday night, Hermleigh’s softball team had very few answers for Santa Anna pitcher Dayla Ray.
Leading 4-2 with one out in the fourth, Hallie Ellerbee reached base on a controversial infield single and it led to an eight-run inning as the Lady Cardinals bats came alive on their way to a 13-3 win in the first game of a Region I-1A quarterfinal series.
Ellerbee’s hit was one that brought the dugout to life and quickly gave confidence to the Lady Cardinal offense.
