Abilene High senior Diana Silva struck out 11 batters over 5.2 shutout innings Tuesday to pitch the Lady Eagles to a 6-0 home win over Lubbock Coronado, reaching an impressive milestone in the process.

The AHS right-hander closed her outing with the 300th punchout of her career to move within 85 strikeouts of the school record set by 2019 graduate Kaylen Washington.

Silva’s performance, which featured just one Lady Mustangs hit and a pair of walks, was one of many highlights in the game for the Lady Eagles, who pounded out 12 hits in improving to 14-10-1 overall and 3-2 in District 4-5A play.
