DISTRICT 6-2A DII WEEK 1 REPORT: Roscoe opens season with big win over C-City

Roscoe 42, Colorado City 0 — Roscoe used a dual-threat offense and a strong defensive effort to beat C-City in the opener for both teams. 

Jace Arnwine threw for 258 yards and two scores and Ivan McCann rushed for 139 yards and two more touchdowns to lift the Plowboys, who limited C-City to only 107 yards in total offense. 

Roscoe also won the turnover battle, 3-0.

Stamford 48, Hamlin 6 — Kaston Vega rushed for 120 yards and three scores and Cle Whitfield rushed for 100 yards and another score to lead Stamford to a big win in the return of coach Wayne Hutchinson. 

Stamford outgained Hamlin 417-110 while forcing the Pied Pipers into a pair of turnovers. 

Hamlin was led by Ian Gruben who hit 14 of 21 passes for 82 yards. Hudson Smith added the lone TD for the Pied Pipers with a two-yard scoring run with 9:31 to play. 

Cross Plains 51, Winters 28 —Cross Plains used three fourth-quarter touchdowns to blow open a close game and win its opener.

Cross Plains produced 473 yards in total offense while limiting Winters to 188 and forcing three turnovers.

Dusty Wyatt topped the Buffaloes’ stat sheet with 182 yards rushing and two scores. Tyler Mackey was the top receiver with four catches for 93 yards and one score. 

Albany 22, Lubbock Trinity Christian 21 — Albany overcame four turnovers with 418 yards in total offense to win its opener. 

Adam Hill (135 yards rushing) and Cason Fairchild (six catches 153 yards) topped the stat sheet for the Lions, who limited Trinity to 146 total yards. 

Miles 72, Kermit 12 — MHS used a balanced attack of 258 yards passing and 282 yards rushing to hand Kermit a lopsided loss. 

Along the way the Bulldogs limited Kermit to 173 total yards. 

Water Valley 60, Abilene TLCA 9 — The Wildcats piled up 368 yards rushing and 483 yards in total offense to top TLCA.

They also forced TLCA into five turnovers while building a 54-3 halftime lead.
