GAME STORY: Rigdon’s 44 points sends Benjamin to first state tournament

SNYDER — For the first time in school history, the Benjamin Mustangs are headed to the Class 1A boys basketball state tournament after they beat Garden City 59-52 on Saturday afternoon at The Coliseum.

Benjamin, ranked No. 19 in the state, followed up Friday’s upset of No. 4 Irion County by taking down the seventh-ranked Bearkats in the Region II-1A final.

Grayson Rigdon, who was named tournament MVP, scored 44 points in the win.
