The Eagles dropped a tough one in Amarillo, seeing a 7-3 halftime lead evaporate in a one-score loss to the Sandies.
Abilene High (4-6, 3-3) outgained Amarillo High 314-201, limiting the Sandies to just 77 rushing yards, but the Eagles found themselves down 17-7 in the third quarter despite this. Coach Mike Fullen’s team pulled within a touchdown on Tristen Hall’s 26-yard field goal with 8:42 remaining in the game and had multiple chances down the stretch to tie the game, but couldn’t.
