The Cooper football team scored 30 points in the first quarter and cruised from there to a 54-7 win over Lubbock High on Friday in a District 2-5A Division II matchup at Shotwell Stadium.
The Cougars found the end zone on each of their first six possessions and limited the Westerners to just 43 yards and four first downs in the first half, building a 44-0 lead by halftime.
The dominating Senior Night victory, which improved CHS to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in league play, now puts the Coogs in position to claim a share of the district title when they travel across town to take on 2-5A DII leader Wylie (6-3, 4-0) next week.
