With the Southtown Showdown looming in two weeks, it would be easy for the Wylie football team to be caught looking ahead to the game that could provide the Bulldogs with an outright district championship.
On Friday night at Hugh Sandifer Stadium, coach Clay Martin’s squad showed that wasn’t the case as the Bulldogs hammered Lubbock High 43-0, moving to 5-3 on the season and 3-0 in District 2-5A Division II play.
The win gave the Bulldogs their highest single-season win total since moving up to Class 5A in the 2018-19 school year.
