LUBBOCK — The Abilene High football team did a lot of good things Friday at Lubbock Cooper. Unfortunately for the Eagles, it wasn’t enough to escape Pirate Stadium with a win.
Despite outgaining Cooper 209-125 and holding the Pirates to just five total first downs, AHS came up on the losing end of an 11-8 score, allowing 11 unanswered points after taking an 8-0 lead midway through the second quarter.
The Eagles (3-5 overall, 2-2 in District 2-5A Division I) were hurt by three turnovers, which kept them from increasing their lead early and regaining it late.
