The Abilene High football team outlasted rival Cooper in a defensive slugfest Friday, snapping a three-game losing streak in the Crosstown Showdown series with a hard-fought 14-10 win at Shotwell Stadium.
Trailing twice in the game ā at 7-0 after the first quarter and 10-7 heading into the fourth ā the Eagles came up with a pair of timely touchdown drives and a bevy of clutch defensive stops to even their record at 1-1.
AHS outgained Cooper 252-196, limiting the Coogs to just 122 yards after a 74-yard touchdown drive on the game’s opening possession.
