GAME STORY: Moore, Wylie outlast Gutierrez, Stamford in 1-0 walk-off thriller

The Wylie softball team didn’t muster much offense off Stamford ace Citlaly Gutierrez, but with the way Rylee Moore pitched for the home team Saturday, coach Heather Collier’s Lady Bulldogs didn’t need to.

WHS pushed across one run in the bottom of the eighth and that was all that was needed to pick up a 1-0 walk-off win over Stamford in the final nondistrict game for both teams.

Limited to just four hits while striking out 15 times, Wylie put a pair of runners on base in the bottom of the eighth and got an RBI single from Ryleigh Whitehead to break a scoreless tie and improve to 11-4 heading into Tuesday’s District 4-5A opener against Lubbock Monterey.
