SAN ANTONIO — Entering Thursday’s Class 1A state semifinal with Ackerly Sands, Huckabay girls coach Barry Gill was quite clear on what his team had to do to advance. And at the top of the list was finding a way to deal with Sands’ three-quarter court zone trap.
Unfortunately for the Lady Indians, they weren’t able to solve the puzzle in time to avert a 56-29 loss in the Alamodome.
Victimized by Sands’ relentless pressure, the Lady Indians were forced to 32 turnovers in 32 minutes, allowing Sands to take nearly 30 more shots (55-26) on the day.
