A hard-fought, emotionally draining 58-56 weather-delayed, road win over Midland High on Monday night meant the Abilene High boys basketball team still had partial control over its playoff destiny.
The win, though, took a toll on the Eagles, who fell behind 14-0 to San Angelo Central on Tuesday night at Eagle Gym, creating a hole that Justin Reese’s squad couldn’t dig out of.
Central used the fast start and controlled the game the whole night on its way to a 65-48 win that, when coupled with Odessa Permian’s 39-37 win over Midland Legacy, clinched the final playoff berth in District 2-6A.
