Abilene High faced this scenario early in its homecoming game against Odessa High, when Anthony Ramirez missed a 36-yard field goal attempt off the with the Bronchos leading 7-0 in a District 2-6A game at Shotwell Stadium.

As it would turn out, though, the missed kick would be the springboard the Eagles needed on their way to a 42-7 win that was propelled by an opportunistic defense.
