District 2-3A Div. II Week 9 Report: Ballinger snaps two-game losing skid with win over Moore

Ballinger 61, Ingram Moore 0 — Briley Clinton threw for 197 yards and three scores and rushed for 79 more and another TD to help Ballinger snap a two-game losing streak.

The Bearcats (4-3, 1-2) amassed 317 yards rushing while collecting the win, but did their share of damage through the air as well. Trey Matschek was the game’s leading receiver, hauling in eight catches for 117 yards and two scores. 

Moore, which was held to just 91 total yards, fell to 2-6 and 0-3.

Sonora 50, Bangs 25 — Jaime Buitron rushed for 173 yards, threw for 113 and accounted for four touchdowns as Sonora (5-3, 3-0) remained in the driver’s seat for the district title.

Bangs, which was limited to 280 yards, was led by Guy Powell, who had 172 yards rushing and one score. 

The Dragons fell to 1-6 and 1-2.

Brady 34, San Angelo Grape Creek 27 — Zeke Jones rushed for 141 yards and two scores to lead Brady to an important win over a surprising Grape Creek team. 

Hayden Baronet added 80 yards rushing, 20 passing and accounted for two scores as Brady improved to 4-3, 2-1.

Brady is now in excellent position for a high playoff seed, as it will go into its final two games as a heavy favorite against Ingram Moore and Bangs. 

Grape Creek fell to 3-5 and 2-1.
