District 4-3A Div. II Week 8 Report: Coahoma falls to Stanton on the road

Stanton 30, Coahoma 17 — The Buffaloes slipped past Coahoma with a big second half, blowing open a game that was tied at 10-10 at the break. 

Coahoma outgained Stanton 371-318, but hurt itself with a pair of turnovers. 

Billy Bailey led Coahoma with 130 yards passing and 96 yards rushing, including one rushing TD. Brysen Kerby added 82 yards rushing and a score on 19 carries for Coahoma, which fell to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Stanton improved to 3-4 and 1-1 with the win.  The Buffs rushed for 264 yards as a team.

Abernathy 33, Idalou 10 —The Antelopes stunned previously unbeaten Idalou behind 168 yards passing and three scores from Jess Hoel.  Hoel also led AHS in rushing with 108 yards on only 16 carries. 

Leading 7-0 after the first quarter, Abernathy (7-0, 2-0) blew the game open with a 19-3 run through the second quarter. 

Idalou (6-1, 1-1), which was limited to just 243 yards in total offense, was crippled by four costly turnovers. Xaveon Cavasos topped the Wildcat stat sheet with 78 yards rushing. 

Lubbock Roosevelt 58, Reagan County 0— The Eagles (7-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten behind a dominating defensive effort that saw them limit Reagan County to just 58 yards in total offense. 

Roosevelt, never struggled, quickly building a 36-0 lead by the break before coasting home. The Eagles finished with  504 yards in total offense, including 467 yards on the ground. 

 JJ Diaz was the top ground gainer for the Eagles, producing 154 yards and two scores on only four carries.
