DE LEON FEATURE: Bearcats will spread the field, but don’t expect aerial circus

DE LEON — With first-year coach Jacob Marwitz taking the reins of the De Leon program during the spring, he brought with it a stark philosophical change.

The Bearcats, who had posted a combined 5-17 record over the past two seasons running slot-T and wing-T offenses under former coach Andrew Dickson, will now switch to a spread look.

That will mean a variable tempo, more passing and more action. Whether it results in more winning is what De Leon and Marwitz are banking on heading into the 2021 campaign.
