Senior standouts Jalen McGee and Nathan Watts both had big games Saturday, giving Abilene High steady production from the perimeter and post, respectively, to lift the Eagles to a 56-44 win over crosstown rival Cooper at Cougar Gym.
Behind that duo, AHS outscored the Cougars 37-25 over the middle two quarters to take control of what was a one-point game after one quarter.
The win, the second in a row for the Eagles, improved coach Justin Reese’s squad to 7-2 on the year, while Cooper fell to 5-3 with the loss.
