The Abilene High boys basketball team pulled ahead early and held off Wylie from there to pick up a 50-45 win over the Bulldogs on Saturday at Eagle Gym.

The Eagles raced out to a 13-8 lead after a quarter and extended that to 26-19 by halftime, before fending off a couple of Wylie rallies in the second half.

The win improved AHS to 5-1 on the season heading into a nondistrict Tuesday at Midland Christian.
