The Abilene boys basketball team faced more resistance than expected against a struggling San Angelo Central squad on Tuesday, but the Eagles did enough in the second half to pull away for a 57-47 win at Eagle Gym.
Playing two hours earlier than scheduled due to impending storms, AHS outscored the Bobcats 21-12 over the final eight minutes to put away a game that, to that point, had been a struggle throughout.
The victory, which came on the heels of the Eagles’ first district loss Friday at Hurst Bell, improved coach Justin Reese’s team to 21-9 overall and 8-1 in District 3-6A play.
