HAMLIN — Whether it was due to a mental block or one team simply outplaying the other, Albany’s 18-year, 12-game winning streak over Hamlin came to a crashing halt on Friday with a 66-20 win for the Pied Pipers in the Big Country Preps Game of the Week.
Jevon Williams rushed for 188 yards and four scores and added a 34-yard fumble return for a TD and two picks to lead Hamlin (7-2, 4-0 District 7-2A DII) which took the district title in dominating fashion.
Albany, which was outgained 536-150, finished its regular season at 7-3 and 3-1 with the No. 2 district seed heading into the playoffs.
