NORTH RICHLAND HILLS — Missed opportunities and big plays cost the Abilene High football team in a heartbreaking 35-34 loss to North Richland Hills Richland in the District 3-6A opener at Birdville ISD Fine Arts/Athletic Complex on Friday night.
Seth Wells’ 9-yard touchdown catch on a wide receiver reverse pass from C.J. Nelson with 48 seconds to play capped off an eight-play, 82-yard scoring drive that proved to be the game-winner.
It was Richland’s first points since taking a 28-7 lead with 7:28 to play in the first half.
