Following an impressive run through their nondistrict schedule, the Cooper Cougars are 4-0 for just the third time this decade.
But as well as the Coogs have played during their perfect start to the season, outscoring their four opponents by a combined 116-48 margin, they know that the heavy lifting is only now beginning.
That 4-0 start is just a quarter of the way to the goal the team set before this season of a run to the state championship game. And with District 2-5A Division I play beginning this week with a home game against a talented Lubbock Monterey squad, the Cooper players are using that context to keep themselves grounded and focused on the task at hand.
