District 2-5A Division I: Week 2 Report

Cooper 42, Grapevine 14 The Cooper running game was overpowering and the defense opportunistic in a dominating Week 2 win over the Mustangs.

Led by Noah Garcia, who rushed for 259 yards and two touchdowns while catching three passes for 53 yards and another score, the Cougars outgained Grapevine 418-299, pounding out 342 yards on the ground on 38 carries. On defense, meanwhile, the Coogs got interceptions from Dylon Davis and LaDainian Diaz and added two more takeaways on fumble recoveries.

Now 2-0 to start the season, Cooper will try to stay unbeaten this week when it takes on rival Abilene High in the annual Crosstown Showdown at Shotwell Stadium.
