BREAKING: Geter tabbed to take over Cooper girls basketball program

Cooper athletic director Aaron Roan announced on Tuesday that former Hondo boys basketball coach Arsenio Geter has been hired to lead the Lady Cougar girls basketball program.

Geter, who replaces Lauren Ash, previously spent time at San Angelo Central, Brenham, Brownfield, Borger, McCamey and most recently Hondo, where he amassed a 45-28 record in two seasons as the head coach.

Geter, a 2010 West Texas A&M graduate who has been coaching since 2011, will take over a program that posted a 32-60 record in three seasons under Ash, including Class 5A playoff appearances each of the past two years.

At Class 4A Hondo, Geter led the Owls to 20-plus wins and postseason berths in each of his two seasons, including a 24-14 record this past year.

The new Cooper girls basketball coach is married to former Abilene High and McMurry volleyball player Terah (Brown) Geter.
