Send me to a baseball, softball or basketball all-star game and I’m all-in.
Along those lines, you could send me to an all-star curling match and I’d gladly go.
But football?
The mere mention of an all-star gala surrounding pigskin makes me cringe because I know what I’m in for: Bad snaps. False starts. Rusty tackling. Blown assignments and dropped passes (if and when the passes are on target).
And since it’s impractical to stage a football all-star game at any other time but the summer, you can usually add 95-100 degree heat to the aforementioned list of attractions.
Saturday’s 60-13 win by the Blue team over the Red in this year’s FCA Myrle Greathouse All-Star Classic at Shotwell Stadium pretty well drives home the point I’m about to make.
