GAME STORY: Wall closes dream season in style, edges Blanco for first state title

ROUND ROCK — The Wall baseball team finished the job.

And after edging Kirbyville 5-4 in nine innings to take Friday’s Class 3A state semifinal, the Hawks had to win another nail-biter on Saturday against Blanco to do it.

Title game MVP Luke Young pitched six strong innings, and Wall scored the only two runs he’d need in the bottom of the sixth to beat the Panthers 2-1 and claim the first state championship in program history.
