SNYDER — After suffering an 8-0 drubbing at the hands of New Deal in Game 1 of the Region I-2A championship series on Thursday, the Albany baseball team had two choices heading into Game 2.
A: Allow the whipping to affect them mentally and damage their ability to rally. Or B: Use it as motivation.
Albany chose the latter, and in a pair of thrilling one-run victories (7-6 and 4-3) on Friday, stunned a large crowd at Moffett Field by earning their second trip to the state tournament in three seasons.
Jackson Chapman drove in B.J. Morris with a sacrifice fly to center field for a walk-off series clincher in the seventh inning of Game 3 to punch AHS’ ticket to Round Rock.
