The Wylie boys basketball team outscored Cooper 28-19 in the first half Friday and held on through a foul-plagued second half to secure a 58-47 road win over the Cougars and take over third place in the District 4-5A standings heading into the second half of league play.
The victory, which wrapped up a doubleheader sweep for Wylie at Cougar Gym, improved the Bulldogs to 15-11 overall and 2-2 in 4-5A play, while Cooper dropped to 13-13 and 1-3.
The Wylie girls won Friday’s early game 64-42 to set a winning tone for the visitors.
